I recently had the opportunity to get some cool photos of Olivia in downtown Raleigh. We hit a couple of my favorite places and shot until the light was gone. She made things super easy and was probably one of the best kid subjects I’ve ever had. Here are a few photos from the session.
After wrapping up Olivia’s session I was on the way home when I came upon an AMAZING sky over downtown Raleigh.  I made my way to the top of a new parking deck to get a few shots.  It would have been even better if I could have found a viewpoint that had the moon in it too but I didn’t have time to change locations before it was too dark.  I actually had to put my tripod on top of my 4 Runner to get a clean shot without the parking deck wall in the bottom of the frame.  I climbed up there (trying not to dent in the roof) set the timer and then climbed back down in order to keep the truck from moving while the shutter was open.  Believe it or not the shot below has only minor adjustments made in Lightroom 2.  I forgot to mention that I did fix the lens distortion in photoshop as well.  But that’s it.  I promise.

This is my neighbor’s oldest daughter Samantha and she’s running for president at her elementary school. I jumped at the chance to do some cool shots for her campaign poster. I don’t know if she will win or not but I think she’ll have the coolest poster in the school. Good luck Samantha!

I feel like I have been editing photos like a mad man! Here are just a few from a recent session with the Stuckey Family. The third one has got to be one of my most favorite baby shots that I’ve ever done. The look on her face is priceless. Sometimes you just get lucky.

This past weekend I was invited to help celebrate the Sellers’ 50th wedding anniversary by shooting their family portraits at Wrightsville Beach. The entire family couldn’t have been easier to work with! The weather was perfect and we had a great time. Here are just a few from the session. The last one is awesome.

We have had a very busy couple of weeks! My sister and family have been in town to spend time with everyone before moving around the world for an extended stay in Japan (her husband is in the Air force). We tried to get the kids together as much as we could all while going to vacation bible school every night as well. We almost don’t know what to do with ourselves now that it’s all over but it was a ton of fun! My sister has become quite the photographer and we decided to take the kids to the cool little town of Coats for a quick photo session with the kids. Photographing kids is always interesting and when they are your own things get even more interesting with how they listen. At least they all have smiles. : ) Make sure you scroll all the way down to see how the session was cut short.
“If you’re a kid and you can hear me raise your hands.”
“If you’re a kid and you can hear me cross your arms.” …so Andrew puts one arm down and pats his head.
Now he’s got it.
…and now I’ve lost them. : )
While shooting at the red barn a dude walked over and said he put a dent in the side of our van. That’s when my session was cut short and I had to deal with this. It’s not that bad though, just an inconvenience. I’m very thankful that the guy who did it came and found me to let me know what happened. He was leaving a business across the street from where we parked and didn’t see the van while backing up. Thankfully it’s only the fender and hood.
