Here are a few of my favorites from a portrait session I did this past August. Yes it was really hot! Mitchell was a trooper though. I don’t know how his hair stayed dry for as long as it did. He and his brother Seth are both gifted musically and it has been cool shooting them with their instruments.  All of these were shot outside on location including the last two. Thanks to my lovely wife Jatana for assisting with the lights.

Sometimes when we do things like this I feel like I should be shooting more. And sometimes it’s just good to be dad and take it all in without worrying about f-stops and shutter speeds. Don’t get me wrong, I love to shoot. It’s just that there are some things you don’t take in when looking through the lens. We played games, rode rides (the boys did anyway) and spent a small fortune on hot dogs, french fries, italian sausage, and deep fried treats. It was fun!

Cool locations, and lots of strobes (on most of the shots) makes for some great senior portraits. Having a musician for your subject doesn’t hurt either. Check out a few shots from Seth’s senior session in various locations around Clayton and Raleigh. Click on the photos to see them big.

I recently had the amazing opportunity to shoot behind the scenes photos of the new Scotty McCreery video for his new single “The Trouble With Girls”. It was a great experience seeing the production side of things. Knowing Scotty’s family from church and shooting everything on my old high school campus made everything easier too. The video is directed by Roman White who has done a ton of videos for some music artists you may have heard of before like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Carrie Underwood, just to name a few! It was cool for Scotty to bring the Nashville video crew to Garner to shoot at his high school. I’m not sure when the video will be out but be on the lookout for it.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.
